Week of March 16 to 20
Parent Teacher Conferences: As mentioned in Dr. Herl's email, Parent, Teacher Conferences are canceled. Certified Staff will have work time on Tuesday and Wednesday evening from 4:05 to 7:00 pm. You will be receiving more information about assignments during this evening. Specials teachers will help check out chrome books to families during this time.
Feel free to make phone calls / phone conferences to any parents that you feel you need to have an important conversation about their child. I will let you know when report cards are to be sent home.
IEP Amendments: We had several IEP amendments scheduled during conferences. Sped Teachers need to let me know if you would like to make phone calls on Tuesday or Wednesday nights for those amendments.
Cleaning: Please help our custodial staff in their cleaning each night by leaving chairs down and student desks and tables cleaned off each evening.
Spring Break Travel: Please let me know if you plan to travel outside of the Kansas City Metro area during Spring Break.

Read Across America Spirit Week: Just a reminder that Read Across America Spirit Week is not a fundraiser. If students bring money, do not send it to the office. :-)
Washing Hands: Please continue to remind students to wash hands. Our Custodians are taking extra steps to keep our school clean and healthy. See the email sent out Friday from Lori Halsey for more info about our District's response to the Flu / Coronavirus threat.
PD Day: Friday is a Professional Development day. Cross District will be 8;00 to 11:00 am. Building PD will be from 12:00 to 3:00. We will meet as a whole group at 12:00 noon and then break out from there.

Fire Drill/ Severe Weather Drill: Please take time this week to review Fire and Severe weather drill procedures with your classroom. This would also be a good time to review A.L.I.C.E. procedures with your students. You may want to check out the A.L.I.C.E. book from the library. We will not officially practice an intruder drill as a building at this time.
Earn a Bike Program: This week we will be hosting the Earn a Bike program. Students in 4th and 5th grade who participate will be learning about bike safety and maintenance during after school club time this week. Students will get to keep their bikes at the end of the week! Thank you Coach B. for organizing this activity!
Parent Teacher Conferences: Conference Packets are in your mailboxes. Letters need to go home with students on Wednesday. Please coordinate with your colleagues in scheduling students with siblings.

DNA Assessments - PreTests: The district is now expecting all grade levels to use the pretests that are available for Math in the DNA Unit Assessments. Many of you are already doing this. This was going to be discussed at collab this past week but we didn't have school. Please make plans for students to complete these pre-tests on your next Math unit.
PST: Just a reminder that we have PST for grades K-2 on Wednesday. Please be prepared with intervention data. Amanda Witting will be here on Tuesday afternoon if you need extra assistance.
Dr. Richards Visit: Just a heads up that Dr. Richards will be in the building on Wednesday afternoon during PST meetings. She is spending time in each building this month covering the walkie / responding to calls, etc. as a way of supporting principals. If you need assistance on Wednesday. . . Call Dr. Richards! :-)

Reminder: Please make a conscious effort to always pick your students up on time from lunch and specials. Being late can impact your colleagues and create discipline issues when students are required to wait in line for even a few minutes.

Preparation for Break: In preparation for Winter Break, please make sure your room is clean, put all food waste in the trash near the door. Please clean out the refrigerator in the staff lounge (and any other refrigerators in the building). Be sure all Christmas lights, lamps, and projectors are turned off.

Robotics: A special thanks to Christine and Janelle for sponsoring our Robotics team! If you haven't been to a Robotics Competition, I'd encourage you to attend this Saturday at Bingham Middle School. Our Spring Branch team will compete at 12:50, 1:45, and 2:40. This is a powerful program for our students, preparing them for future work in robotics in Middle and High School!

Recycling Reminder: A reminder not to put milk cartons or any food waste in recycling. This morning we were still finding milk cartons in recycling. Our recycling company actually charges the district to dispose of recycling with large amounts of non-recyclables in it.

Recycling: Thank you to Natali for leading our Recycling Club. A reminder, please be vigilant about what sorts of items are recycled. . . please do not recycle milk cartons, containers with food residue, plastic bags, or paper shredding. These items can cause us to be charged to empty the recycling bin and all contents be put in the trash.
Staff Holiday Party: Mark your calendars for Friday, December 6 for our Staff Holiday Party. Karly and Natali have planned a fun activity. More details to come!
PST Check In: On Monday, Jamie will be checking in with teachers on how PST interventions and data collection is going. If you have any questions or need help, she is more than willing to assist!

DNA Unit Assessment Windows: If you and your grade level determine that you need to adjust a DNA Unit Assessment Window, please email Tracey to let her know the new window dates. All Fastbridge windows will remain the same.
Culvers Night: Our PTA has scheduled a Culvers Night, this Wednesday from 5-8:00 pm. Please consider stopping by Culvers to support our PTA. The PTA Board meeting will be at 5:00 pm at Culvers.

Read for the Record: A reminder to K-2 teachers that on Thursday morning we will have cadet teachers from Chrisman who will be doing read alouds in your classrooms. The read alouds should take about 15 minutes. Thank you for your flexibility with your time and supporting these students.
Cold Weather Reminders: A reminder that our new district guidelines for outdoor recess. If the Temperature (including windchill) is 15 degrees or below, we will have indoor recess.
PBIS Tier 2 Meeting: On Wednesday morning (before school) we will have several visitors in our building including a few elementary principals, school Psychs and Dr. Richards to observe a PBIS tier 2 meeting in the library. You do not need to do attend or prepare for this meeting (unless I have spoken with you about it). Just letting everyone know in case there are questions about the visitors.
PD Day: A reminder that Tuesday is a Cross District PD Day. Please let me know if you have questions about your PD locations. Please arrive promptly at 8:00 am. Building PD will be 12:00-3:00 starting in the Library. The district will be doing a robo call to families on Monday afternoon. I would recommend reminding families in your personal communications as well.

Social Committee Reminder: A reminder to consider joining Social Committee. Social Committee fees go to purchase flowers and / or gift cards for staff members when they are hospitalized or lose a close family member. Additionally Social Committee purchases cakes for Wedding and Baby showers. We ask Certified Staff to donate $20.00, and Classified Staff and Traveling Staff members to donate $10.00. Please give money to Sheree. Please see Sheree or Karly to see a list of how money is spent.
Missing iPad: One of our iPads from CBSS is missing. If you have it in your room, please return it to the office.
PST - This Wednesday we will have PST meetings during collab time. We will not have collab meetings on Thursday.

Trunk or Treat: This Thursday night at 6:00 pm is our Trunk or Treat. Please consider hosting a trunk. PTA will provide the candy. The tentative rain date is next Tuesday, October 29.
KCPT Science Program: On Tuesday morning our Fifth grade will have a special science lesson with engineers from Black and Veatch which will be filmed by KCPT. Please be aware that there will be many special visitors in the building at that time.
Changes in the Clinic: Nurse Maria Flores has accepted a position at Cassell Park Elementary where she can help support our ELL program and families. We wish her the best! This week Samantha Dutton will be starting as our new nurse. Welcome Samantha!
Staff Charges in the Cafeteria: Just a reminder that staff members should not be charging lunches when they have a negative balance. Please help our Nutrition Services staff avoid uncomfortable situations by making sure lunch balances are paid up. Please see me if you have questions or need assistance.

Teacher Contract Time on Conference Week: Next week Certified staff will be working late on Tuesday (until 8:15 pm), and Wednesday (until 7:45). Since we are a late tier school and our daily contract time goes until 4:30, we will still be 30 min short of making up a full contract day to be off on Friday. Late tier schools are being asked to make up 30 minutes over the course of the four days next week. This can be done at staff discretion (10 minutes a day over 3 days, or 30 min in one day). If you have any questions, please see Aaron.
District Leave Policy: As mentioned in PD on Wednesday, please review the District Leave Policy in this short video. Let me know if you have any questions.
Pride Paws: Please continue to distribute Pride Paws to students. We will no longer be posting them on bulletin boards, so it is no longer necessary to print them on a specific grade level color of paper. We are now doing drawings for lunch with Jamie each month.
Tier 2 Behavior Nomination Form: In preparation for Tier 2 Behavior PST meetings, you may nominate a student for the Check-In-Check-Out (CICO) intervention. These are typically attention seeking students who do not have aggressive behaviors. To nominate a student, please fill out the Nomination Form. A link to this form will also be located under the Important Links Tab.

Culvers Night: Our PTA has scheduled a Culvers Night, this Wednesday from 5-8:00 pm. Please consider stopping by Culvers to support our PTA. The PTA Board meeting will be at 5:00 pm at Culvers.

Read for the Record: A reminder to K-2 teachers that on Thursday morning we will have cadet teachers from Chrisman who will be doing read alouds in your classrooms. The read alouds should take about 15 minutes. Thank you for your flexibility with your time and supporting these students.
Cold Weather Reminders: A reminder that our new district guidelines for outdoor recess. If the Temperature (including windchill) is 15 degrees or below, we will have indoor recess.
PBIS Tier 2 Meeting: On Wednesday morning (before school) we will have several visitors in our building including a few elementary principals, school Psychs and Dr. Richards to observe a PBIS tier 2 meeting in the library. You do not need to do attend or prepare for this meeting (unless I have spoken with you about it). Just letting everyone know in case there are questions about the visitors.
PD Day: A reminder that Tuesday is a Cross District PD Day. Please let me know if you have questions about your PD locations. Please arrive promptly at 8:00 am. Building PD will be 12:00-3:00 starting in the Library. The district will be doing a robo call to families on Monday afternoon. I would recommend reminding families in your personal communications as well.

Social Committee Reminder: A reminder to consider joining Social Committee. Social Committee fees go to purchase flowers and / or gift cards for staff members when they are hospitalized or lose a close family member. Additionally Social Committee purchases cakes for Wedding and Baby showers. We ask Certified Staff to donate $20.00, and Classified Staff and Traveling Staff members to donate $10.00. Please give money to Sheree. Please see Sheree or Karly to see a list of how money is spent.
Missing iPad: One of our iPads from CBSS is missing. If you have it in your room, please return it to the office.
PST - This Wednesday we will have PST meetings during collab time. We will not have collab meetings on Thursday.

Trunk or Treat: This Thursday night at 6:00 pm is our Trunk or Treat. Please consider hosting a trunk. PTA will provide the candy. The tentative rain date is next Tuesday, October 29.
KCPT Science Program: On Tuesday morning our Fifth grade will have a special science lesson with engineers from Black and Veatch which will be filmed by KCPT. Please be aware that there will be many special visitors in the building at that time.
Changes in the Clinic: Nurse Maria Flores has accepted a position at Cassell Park Elementary where she can help support our ELL program and families. We wish her the best! This week Samantha Dutton will be starting as our new nurse. Welcome Samantha!
Staff Charges in the Cafeteria: Just a reminder that staff members should not be charging lunches when they have a negative balance. Please help our Nutrition Services staff avoid uncomfortable situations by making sure lunch balances are paid up. Please see me if you have questions or need assistance.
Week of October 14 to 18
Teacher Contract Time on Conference Week: Next week Certified staff will be working late on Tuesday (until 8:15 pm), and Wednesday (until 7:45). Since we are a late tier school and our daily contract time goes until 4:30, we will still be 30 min short of making up a full contract day to be off on Friday. Late tier schools are being asked to make up 30 minutes over the course of the four days next week. This can be done at staff discretion (10 minutes a day over 3 days, or 30 min in one day). District Leave Policy: As mentioned in PD on Wednesday, please review the District Leave Policy in this short video. Let me know if you have any questions.
Pride Paws: Please continue to distribute Pride Paws to students. We will no longer be posting them on bulletin boards, so it is no longer necessary to print them on a specific grade level color of paper. We are now doing drawings for lunch with Jamie each month.
Tier 2 Behavior Nomination Form: In preparation for Tier 2 Behavior PST meetings, you may nominate a student for the Check-In-Check-Out (CICO) intervention. These are typically attention seeking students who do not have aggressive behaviors. To nominate a student, please fill out the Nomination Form. A link to this form will also be located under the Important Links Tab.
